Laurie was a great all-rounder who was a right hand batsman and a right arm fast bowler. He played from 1938 to 1987. He played for Mullengandra, Colts, East Albury, North Albury and back to Mullengandra where finally retired at the age of 67!

In the 1959/60 season Laurie in one game, scored 114 not out and took 3 for 9, which was a hat trick against Bandiana. In the same season he won the Williamson Medal. He played at Country Week on 16 occasions, 4 times as captain.
