Laurie was a great all-rounder who was a right hand batsman and a right arm fast bowler. He played from 1938 to 1987. He played for Mullengandra, Colts, East Albury, North Albury and back to Mullengandra where finally retired at the age of 67!

As a batsman he scored over 10 centuries, including:

  • 100 not out against Wodonga
  • 114 not out against Bandiana
  • 119 not out against East Albury, and
  • 126 not out against Mullengandra

In the 1959/60 season Laurie in one game, scored 114 not out and took 3 for 9, which was a hat trick against Bandiana. In the same season he won the Williamson Medal. He played at Country Week on 16 occasions, 4 times as captain.

His best bowling performances were:

  • 8 for 33
  • 7 for 30 in a semi-final
  • 7 for 21 and 5 for 45 in a Grand Final, and
  • 5 for 12 at Country Week.
