Gary commenced playing First Grade for East Albury in the 1985-86 season with 112 not out on debut.
He was a punishing left-handed bat, as well as a wicketkeeper. He played in 4 First Grade Grand Finals for East Albury, with the club winning 3.
Gary represented Albury & Border Cricket Association on numerous occasions, including Melbourne Country Week, O’Farrell Cup and 2 Toohey’s Cup Matches against Wagga.

31 runs in a 6 ball over (5 sixes and a single)
27 wins in a row in the O’Farrell Cup
Gary was an ABCA selector for over 15 years. As a wicketkeeper Gary took 5 or more catches in ABCA representative matches on 5 occasions, which at this point is an ABCA record. Gary was awarded Life Membership of the East Albury Cricket Club. He has been in almost every official position for the club, including Captain/Coach, Treasurer, Vice President and has been on the committee numerous times over a 21-year period.
